Another day, another finals festival, this time the Chance to Shine Festival with Folkestone School for Girls, Simon Langton Girls, Pent Valley, Folkestone Academy and Brockhill competing in the fourth of these annual encounters between Shepway and Canterbury girl's schools and for the second time, the players were chasing the shade in record temperatures.

After a hectic programme, the final started almost on time between Simon Langton A and Folkestone A and like yesterday's final, wickets fell early and the scores sank into the negative before strong second half batting performances set Simon Langton a target of 230. In reply, Simon Langton also lost wickets, though only three compared to Folkestone's six, and surged at the end to 255, winning by 25 runs.

In addition to very smart new trophies from new sponsor, City Electrical Factors, The Folkestone and Shepway Schools Partnerships rewarded the effort that all five schools have made with £200 in cricket goodies all contained in sturdy wheelie bags. Another great day. There is a large selection of photographs from the always excellent Ken Matcham in the site photo album. If you would like a print, Ken will supply you with one for no more than you would pay to have them printed yourself.

Tournament sponsored by Chance to Shine, City Electrical Factors and the Shepway Schools Partnership.
