The team secured another fine victory; this time against Hawkinge. New skipper Harry Wren lost the toss and was asked to bat by Hawkinge. A good opening partnership between Henry Roberts and George Ansell saw us progress to 221 after 5 overs, and the momentum continued as Ben Brenchley struct a couple of 4s and together with Jack Cussen put us on 243 by the halfway mark. Jonathan Stewart and Barney Gore found runs a little harder to come by as Hawkinge bowled vey well during the next five overs, but they both did very well to contribute positivey to the score. The final pair of Harry Wren and Josh Woodgate-White batted through the overs and helped by a few 4s from Harry we ended on 273 for 4.
Second half started well with both Harry and Josh picking up 2 wickets each in the first 4 overs, and the trend contiued with George bowling 2 people out early on. After 10 overs Hawkinge were 197 for 6. Henry (3 overs 0-7), Barney (3 overs 0-3) and Jack (2 overs 0-4) all bowled well to keep the runs down. Harry picked up a futher wicket to finsh on 3 overs 3-9. Josh managed to get another 2 wickets and ended up with a very impressive 3 overs 4-17. Jonathan Stewart had another good game as wicket keeper and managed to pick up a couple of catches - but this week's man of the match went to George Ansell who bowled very well to end on 3 overs 2-3.
A good team effort all around in which everyone contributed - Hawkinge ended on 218 for 9 from their 20 overs
