Sibton U11s suffered a recent heavy defeat in the league to this decent Nonington team, so knew in advance that a much better performance would be required to overcome the opposition in this cup semi-final.
Nonington batted first and what followed was a really good bowling and fielding effort by the Sibton boys. Jack W (4-2-3-1) bowled with typical pace and accuracy and skipper Harry (4-0-17-1) also caused problems for the batsmen. Josh W-W (3-0-31-1) and Ben F (2-0-17-2) backed up the opening bowlers well, followed by tight bowling from Seth (3-1-4-1), Ben B (2-0-9-0) and Barney (2-0-7-0). No byes in the innings reflected well on Isaac behind the stumps but also on the strength and accuracy of Josh’s arm, fielding at 3
rd man. The Nonington batsmen dared not risk a run to him after he effected a run out with a direct hit in the first over. As a result of this good bowling and fielding, Nonington were restricted to 262/6.
