We won the toss and batted first, we got of to a good start Osborne and payney knocking around some ordinary bowling, Payney eventually going for a plumb LBW on 37. Osborne went on to score 58 and was well supported by wren, Osborne then got himself out really and he should be annoyed with himself as he could have had a big score.
Others chipped in well Wren 38, DS 22. Shah and myself somehow seem to gel when we bat together, again we put on a big partnership and it was quite amusing when I reached my 50 before Shah, his face said it all! He eventually went for a good 47 in last over and I saw it through scoring 61not out. We ended up 292 for 6 of 50, very happy with that particulary with some of the no sense sledging that was coming from a couple of them.
There innings started of briskly with an attacking field, sam bowled well first few bowling quick and meersie eventually found his length and bowled as always good lines picking up 2. There young opener Jake benefield batted very well to some sharp bowling and for 13 years old will be a good prospect. With them 4 down they started to shut up shop, which personally I think was a bad mistake by them, Bond batted well and I am convinced that if they played positivley they had a chance of pulling out a close game, it was fast outfield and when it went through it was four all the time. Bond stayed in for some time and I eventually picked him up for a well batted 40 odd. Then we started to pick up a few more wickets, eventually we need one wicket left with 4 overs to go, could we get it, no. Very frustrated, a drop catch in the second to last would have taken it for us but it clearly wasn't to be our day. They eventually saw it out scoring 184 for 9 with every one taking a wicket. Fielding was good by people on a difficult outfield, young adam daughters taking a very good catch as part of it and mike chinneck taking 2 very good catches.
To be honest, im not happy with the result we should have stuffed them as we need to keep pulling them off to get that promotion, the other sides slipped up this weekend and a further 6 points would have really helped. Still 14 is better than none at all. I cant go into how big next weekend is, we all know. I want everyone down there sharp and focused like never before, we win that we then stand a good chance of going all the way we lose then it could be season over.
A mention must go to the ones, who like we should have done secured promotion this weekend. Thats top work by them and lets hope they do it in style and go up as champs, it will send out a message to the teams next year for sure. Lets get that spot also so we can have a cracking end of season, we all deserve it.
