Sibton Park won by 58 runs.

After last week’s fixture against Hawkinge was rained off, this was to be a first game for this season’s new-look Under 13 team. Conditions were not promising – cold, grey, a damp outfield and drizzle in the air. It was a relief to everyone that the rain held off enough for us to be able to make a start and the U13s ignored the conditions to put in a very strong performance.

Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, Charles Wilson and Bradley Wake-Smith opened the batting against a wet ball, sometimes keeping low on a damp pitch. It was not easy, but the openers put on a solid stand before Bradley fell to one that came through low. Enter Sam Ansell, who immediately stamped his authority on the game with a series of boundaries. With Charles maintaining his concentration at the other end and some good running between the wickets, the scoreboard now started moving quickly and Folkestone were under pressure.

Arghhhhh not again!!

Two games have slipped past where we had no right to win but in the end possibly should have - slightly frustrating..

Winning the toss, we batted - poorly. George first ball, AA shortly after, Bish even shorter after that. At 17 for 3 we were floundering. Bej and Hobo set us back on an even keel after some reasonably Beckenham bowling on a slow and exploding pitch. Hobo went for 18 after looking comfortable then Hickers for 7 before Bej was 'dismissed' for a well played 47. After that everyone else capitualted and Meersie and No 11 come in with the score on 97 with 21 overs to go. Some good shots, a slice of luck saw us creep up to 127 after Meersie spewed one up, for 14 and the last bat unbeaten on 7 red (again).

My lucky coin failed me today, losing the toss on a damp track. They arrived with 10 and a mixture of 3rds, but this was never going to be an easy game, they have always been one of the top clubs in the kent league.

Anyway after being stuck into bat, we got a good start, payney was hitting it well and then just a little to well being caught for 16, Osborne again started to look good but failed to continue and get a big score which he deserves and went for 20ish. Then Lodgey and carbs started to just bat, they put on a good partnership, Lodgey was looking superb, going on and scoring 30 until he played back when really it didnt get up as to what he expected. Still a top knock by him, carbs has continued going onto 50 then we have lost 3 quick wickets.

Local derby and good to see some old faces too.

So we lose the toss and are asked to bat!!!

Nice sunny day, biggest crowd of the season, perfect, just need to get a result.

AA and George do their stuff again, get us off to a good start, unfortunately AA clips one and is caught legside for 46 and shortly after George is LBW for 34. So from 78 for 1, we find ourselves, lost, and 97 for 5 after Bej is run out, Hobo is, errmmm, out LBW!! and Hickers is also LBW. Wrenny shortly follows, also LBW (Getting the picture yet?) Fortunately Bish is plodding away the other end and with Rowey get the board moving again. Unfortunately Rowey holes out for 24 and Bish goes shortly after for 50. The tail didn't wag very much as Meersie is brilliant run out by Josh Bryen after fielding it off his own bowling - we finish on a mediocre 177 giving them 2 overs and we're a little down about the score. (Folkestone boys bowled well as Champ picks up 4).

I have put some photos from the game in the 2010 folder, excellent win.
