I had not played at Kennington before and was pleasantly surprised as the ground came into view, but then a little dismayed when the stumps were put out on the wicket at the edge of the square, which was no more than 30 yards from the pavilion boundary !

I was already thinking that we would easily need 225 plus, batting first when the coin came down in our favour, but was soon to revise that target after the opening exchanges.

It wasn’t just that we lost Dennis and Dave Palmer very early on ( and they were 2 of only 3 oldens playing – me being the third ! ), but the nature of the dismissals themselves concerned me – Dennis got a beauty which cut back and beat him between bat and pad – and one stopped on Dave, which made him pop a return catch to the bowler.

Sibton's Under 15s needed to pick themselves up against Saltwood in the Saxon Shore League after a disappointing result at Folkestone last time out.  When our opening bowlers conceded 19 runs off the first two overs things weren't looking too bright.

Ho hum - can't really say too much.

We batted ok but probably didn't get as many as we should.

The bowling was average with at least 1 or 2 easy 4 balls an over, the fielding was poor and has noticeably dropped off the scale over the last 2 or 3 weeks, and Hythe's overseas, Locky, batted well for the first time this season and Morgs batted well.

Move on to Ashford next week where I hope we can improve on the performance.

Sorry its late, but what with the site being down and other issues have not been able to get on.

We lost toss and were put into field, 2 early wickets picked up by joey who opened and bowled really well, and tidy who again bowled really well. Then they started to score freely, it was an out and out batting deck and a fast outfield, bowlers did not bowl well in the end, too many four balls and 6! balls. They went on and scored 276 for 9 of the 50, I would have said we could have chased that down with the side we had, we should have really restricted them to 200 at one stage if not less.

As always our innings started well, but again wickets started to tumble, carbo batted well and did not get the support he needed, DS batted well and positively, we were all out 150. For the last 2 weeks we have not looked like winning, we have been playing poor cricket, its as simple as that. There has been a lot of mention that it is down to training and I totally agree, fielding has been poor, not as bad I admit in this game and bowling has been very poor to be fair. There are way to many four balls being dished up by all bowlers, onwards and upwards for tomorrow now, although at this moment in time we are struggling for a side! (not good enough people considering we have been 2nd for sometime)

Sadly this game was dealt with in the usual Harvel fashion, quite frankly there is no need for it and if that was us as a club those persons would be out.

Well done to Bishy for a massive score and the ones, going well and stuffed them top top work.

A nice hot sunny day, perfect conditions, great looking pitch, and a decent result.

So batting first again, George unfortunately went second ball to a loose shot. From then on we never looked back as AA and Bish piled on the pressure, AA raved to 50 in 16 overs and played on for 64 in the 17th over. The score was racing on as we were 156 at the 20 over mark. Bej carried on where AA left off with Bishy now easing passed 50 and pushing towards his 100.

Bishy's maiden century soon came up in fine style, and an excellent knock. Bej passed 50 and like father like soon was out for 67. Bishy continued the push passing 150 before a massive swipe accross the line saw him out for a massive 155 - it really was a classy knock.

The skipper declared, after a brief appearance, at 45 overs for a massive 314 for 5.

In reply, Harvel got off to a sticky start and were reeling at 22 for 5, thanks to some good bowling from Rowey and the other old boy at the other end. At 53 for 7 it looked like it was ending soon as Newman bowled quickly & well, picking up 2 wickets and Meersie unlucky not to pick up anything, but Harvel's Aussie Jesse Seven played well along with youngster Ollie McSweeny, who looks a good prospect for the future. However, the introduction of AA saw the youngster succumb to a straight one, and then AA preceded to get a hat trick with the next 2 balls,  picking up the last wicket in his next over, leaving Jesse Seven stranded on 75 not out, and AA picking up 4 quick wickets.

A better solid performance, nice to see the batters getting stuck in.

The half way stage next week against a tough Hythe side - another top performance is required if we want to maintain the progress.

Disappointing news for the 2's and even more disappointing is the abuse our umpire received - not good.
