Sibton's talented U11 B team completed a Saxon Shore League and Cup double with a win against Sandwich.

Batting first the B's batted very poorly and finished on 268 for 8, Jack Woodward top scored with 20. B's produced a fine team display of bowling and fielding to restrict Sandwich to 230 for 10.

This year the B's have been the class side, with a 100% record.

For the first time this year we ran 2 U11 teams. The A Team was very much an inexperience side but produced some fine performances and finished 5th, and could have finished higher.

Finally, a word of thanks to Geoff Kirk and his team for all their hard work in preparing the ground.

A similar game earlier in the season V Blackheath, but this time the result went our way.

Winning the toss, in overcast damp conditions, we batted first.

As usual, AA and Bishy playing well to get off to a decent start. Bish fell to James Mills, who bowled a good spell as he did in the first game and was unlucky too.

AA passes yet another 50, and finally falls for 60, as we are going at 4.5 an over and looking good. Bej, unfortunately, nicks one on to his pad and is given and skip quickly follows for 4. As the run rate slows up, Hickers gets going with Payno, and Payno in another brilliant, competent knock gets his well deserved 50 and shortly after Hickers gets his half century, but is dismissed shortly after.

Rowey plays a brief encounter, leaving debutant Lodgey to hit a quick 6, leaving Payno 60 not out at the end of the 50 overs. 241 for 6, was a decent score on a difficult at first pitch but swiftly drying out.

So in reply, we keep it very tight, Rowey picks up the dangerous Max Campbell, and Simmons the other opener, fairly cheaply.

Amadou A is playing well but a bit edgy, whilst AA is on and bowls the dangerous Drapes., the score is 53 for 3.

Payno later brilliantly runs out the dangerous Ama for 33, with a direct hit, shortly followed by James Loader as AA traps him LBW. So at 125 for 5 it looks like game over. We get a little complacent, young Byron Gould starts strliking the ball well and cleanly, not the prettiest of cricket shots, but hey the ball is going to the boundary. He is joined by Jake Guinan who likewise dispatches. We get a little twitchy, and maybe a little too 'involved'. The games continues as Gould is now smacking it around with ease and is looking settled. Gould finally succumbs to the return of Rowey for a decent hit of 81. The score now on 195, with 8 overs to go. Another quick wicket falls, its now but holding your nerve. Guinan falls for 35, a good catch by Lodgey in the deep off AA, its now 204 for 8, 2 wickets to go, 6 overs left.

James Mills smacks Rowey for two large sixes, good shots - last ball of the over Rowey cleans him up with a leg stump yorker - its 235 for 9. Number 11 in and Elliot Lewis playing some nice drives on 15 not out. The score moves to 238, AA bowls and thankfully traps Josh Gould LBW - its all over and we win. Phew!!!

A close one, well batted the Bubble - but we seriously under estimated their batsmen in the lower order after getting the top order out and nearly blew it, but fortunately held our nerve.

Oh well, we won - Folkestone next week who blew Hythe away it appears. Keep working hard everyone.

We won the toss, and decided to field, it was humid and nice dark clouds, suited our bowling attack all the way. The ball was moving as expected and we had a nice early breakthrough by getting their ones opening bat first ball! the other opener also ones was then dropped several times and sadly this set up the first half of the game. In total I think 7 drop catches, some very easy ones also, the opening bat going onto score 70 and was well supported. We pulled it back as one stage we were looking at chasing a big total, some good ground fielding led to 3 run outs, then thankfully catches were held. DS and tuggers pulled it back, DS finishing with 4 and tug boat 1, DS in particualr bowled very well. We bowled them out for 208, always back us going for this score.

I saw someone today, Sunday, who said "Come on then how did you get on?" in that you were playing Blackheath so you must of lost voice. Well I had great pleasure in informing of the result, but also mentioned that actually we are decent side, may be/maybe not title winners, but all the same next time might give us some credit?
